Be careful shifting the Savage without the clutch. It's hard on any transmission but I have read on the forum that it can destroy the Savage trans. Might save a tranny to hold up on the shift lever till the gear catches.
I've also read that Suzuki just took the 4 speed tranny and added another gear so that might be where the problem lies. Of course they won't admit that they have a design flaw.
